I have many wonderful memories of Fr McCarthy when he was at Christ the King. He was a people's priest. He was able to connect with the young and old. He was "the same old joe" as you and me except he gave his life to service God. You will always be remembered.

I first met Fr. Mac in 1965 at Aquinas where he taught me Theology. He married Margie and I in 1973 and we stayed in touch with him through the years. His impact on my life is immeasurable. That he is now at peace is comforting.

We met Fr. McCarthy when my sister went on pilgrimage to Medjugore with Fr. Don. He was a caring, kind and faith filled priest. He suffered greatly and died very peacefully in the arms of our Blessed Lady. We will miss you and see you in Heaven!

I will always remember Father for bringing laughter to our daughter's wedding. As her Dad proudly gave her away, Father mistakenly moved the groom aside, took the best man & joined his hands with the bride. When Father reached the altar, he laughed and said,"In all my years of marrying couples it's the first time I tried to marry the bride to the best man!"

I first met him when I was going through the process to become Catholic. He was really friendly and good-natured about the whole process. He married us in 1999 at St. Rita's and had a very memorable service that was well-regarded with our families. He was so sweet and kind and we'll remember him fondly. He will most certainly be missed.

Father McCarthy coached me in cross-country and track at Aquinas in the late 60's-early 70's. He helped instill a discipline and work ethic that has served me well over the years. He was a good man and will be missed.

Father McCarthy married us 26 years ago and as soon as my groom and I kissed, he asked if he could have a kiss, too - so cute. Everyone knew him so he will be sorely missed.

Fr "Mac" was God's gift and blessing to our family. As he shared his gift of priesthood and friendship with our family, he brought us closer in love and service to Our Lord Jesus Christ, our Divine Mercy, His Mystical Body, the CHurch. Fr Mac, we rejoice and thank God always for sharing your love for the Lord with us. Ave Maria!
