Obituary of Christina J. Cichanowicz

Cichanowicz, Christina J. 'Grandma Tina' Irondequoit ; Peacefully, Saturday, September 17, 2011at the age of 85. Pre-deceased by her husband of 30 years Ted; and grandson Aleksandr. She is survived by her son Ted (Peggy) Cichanowicz; granddaughters; Tatiana and Katrya Cichanowicz, niece; Pamela Cardone, cousin; Albert Lopa. She is also survived by her dear 'adopted' sister and loving caregivers; Connie and husband Gene LaMendola and her two children Thomas Berndt and Kristen Dolan whose love, support and strength during Tina's final illness will never be forgotten. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cherished friends who will miss her dearly (as well as the many uncaught fish in the lakes of Quebec, who may be swimming a bit easier now). Tina made friends wherever she went. Her smile brightened every occasion. Among her favorite paqssions were music,fishing, knitting, and helping others. She did volunteer work at Rochester General Hospital for 22 years; she ushered at the Eastman Theatre for RPO concerts, graduations and other special events for 33 years. 'Aisle 3' will never quite be the same. Her love of fishing was well known. Over the more than 60 years she would travel to her beloved Victoria Lodge in Quebec, first with her family and finally on her own, she leaves behind literally hundreds of friends who would anxiously await her annual summer visits. Her family will receive friends TUESDAY 4:00 - 8:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family WEDNESDAY 9:30 AM at BLESSED KATERI AT CHRIST THE KING CHURCH for her funeral mass. Interment White Haven Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in her memory. Additionally, there will be a Memorial Talk given at the Kingdom Hall on 1227 Calkins Rd. Saturday Sept. 24th at 7pm. All are invited to attend.
