I miss you, Uncle Ripper. My heart breaks for you and the way you abruptly left this life, but I take solace in the fact that you are no longer suffering and are no longer in pain.
To say that what happened to you is unfair is an understatement. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it and gain some sort of understanding, but the truth is, I can't. And I'm angry.
I think when something tragic like this happens we often try to rationalize the circumstances surrounding the situation and ask ourselves "why"? time and again only to be left bewildered and blinded by grief. And being in the state of mind only makes matters worse.
I don't want to wallow in sadness. Mainly because I know that's not what you'd want for me. But I can't help but be sad. Things are never going to be the same without you. And forgive me for being selfish, but I want you back.
I had a vision of you just before you passed. You were seated first class on a one-way flight to Paradise meant solely for you. Your head was resting back on the seat, sunlight streamed through the window illuminating a smile spread across your face, your eyes were closed and you had an umbrella drink in your hand. You were at peace.
At this very moment I'd like to think that you're sitting on a white sand beach, in front of an endless, crystal blue sea and bathing underneath the sun you loved so much. This is your retirement, Uncle Ripper. You're on an eternal vacation now and someday, I hope to see you there. Love and miss you always,
"Katie Lady"
