Lawrenz, Otto August Jr. Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl: Otto August Lawrenz died at the McGraw Center of Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL on May 4, 2012. He was born December 12, 1933 in Rochester, New York to the late Otto Lawrenz, Sr. and Leah Garlow Lawrenz from the Six Nations Reserve in Ohsweken Ontario, Canada. He was very proud of both his German and Native American Heritage. He graduated from Irondequoit High School in 1951 and was an alumnus of Alfred State Technical College. After serving in the US Navy from 1954-1956, he went on to work as a representative for a heating and air conditioning company. In 1977 he moved to Jacksonville, FL. In 1991 he started his own company Mechanical Air Products where he worked until 2011. He was a man of many talents. He was a lifetime member of the Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Greater Jacksonville Bowling Association. He leaves behind his devoted companion, Jeannine Brennan of Jacksonville, Fl; 3 children Eric (Lisa) Lawrenz, Donna Lawrenz and Cara (Nate) Hutchins, all of New York and their mother, Bette Lawrenz. He also leaves a sister, Barbara Smoke of the St. Regis Reserve of New York and a brother Carl (Sally) Lawrenz in Brockport. Otto has numerous nieces, nephews, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Jeannine's children, Michael, Andrew and Peter Brennan are also part of Mr. Lawrenz's loving extended family. Otto was humorous, practical and valued by his friends and associates. For the past 5 years Otto struggled with multiple myeloma with the support and care of The Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville and his home health care workers. His family will receive friends THURSDAY 1:00-3:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Otto's graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00am at Irondequoit Cemetery.
