My sincere sympathies to Helen’s family and friends. I had the privilege of sailing with her and Joe on Zest as a teenager in the mid-1970s. I will always appreciate the opportunity they gave me of doing foredeck for several years. I remember Helen yelling commands from the helm, never in a panic but with a definite command of the situation, and Joe coaching me through the maneuvers – and we did them all and used every Hood sail and piece of equipment available. While our finishes weren’t great, we were always competing til the end and always came back in good spirits to hearty meals on the dock. I learned so much from them, not only about racing, but also the joy of sailing and the camaraderie that can come with it.

Mrs. Ingerson was my dietetic internship director at Kodak- 1970. The thing I remember most about her is her insistence on adherence to the highest standards of practice, for which I am grateful.

I knew and enjoyed Helen through the Ladies League golf at Burnt Store Marina. Such a unique person that I enjoyed spending time with on the course and after at our happy hour. God Bless.

I am so sorry to read of the passing of Mrs. Ingerson. While all the previous messages relate to her sailing, my association was as a dietetic intern. She was and will only ever be Mrs. Ingerson. She was quite the task master--ever so professional. I didn't think she had a first name and I wondered if she ever knew ours. Quite a lovely lady. I'm glad I knew her.
Please accept my condolences.

It was 45 years ago that I met Helen and Jo, and I was impressed by their dedication to sailing. They allowed me to crew for them and I sailed many miles, and attended many LYRA's with them. Sailing will miss her. My condolences to the family.

I would like to offer my sympathy to the family. I first met Helen in the late 70's and our paths crossed many times. By example she encouraged me to become an international judge.

My heartfelt sympathy on the loss of Helen. She was an inspiration to so many of us. I met her at the US Sailing Women's Championship at Rochester--one of the very few times I sailed a Laser--and was impressed by her knowledge and enthusiasm. God bless her and all the family.

My condolences to Helen's family - I have many wonderful memories of being a part of her sailing crew right after I moved to Rochester from California in 1986. It was also through Helen that I met my dear friends Arnie and Joanne. I had many great summers racing on Lake Ontario in all kinds of weather with our fearless leader and skipper Helen Ingerson!

My condolences to the family. My association with Helen for many years was through the Dietetic Association at the local, state and national levels. Then it was a pleasure having Helen as my assistant director for clinical services at Strong Memorial Hospital. We proved to be a good team! You will appreciate something I remember about my employment interview with Helen when she made it clear that "she worked hard and she played hard." I learned the valuable lesson from her that one should respect and enjoy life.

TO: Family and friends of Helen Ingerson - Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of a truly talented, giving woman. Helen was the backbone of Platinum Point Yacht Club and has been missed by many of us since she moved from Burnt Store Marina. Her untiring devotion to our club as charter member, negotiating team to acquire our property, Board member for several years and Commodore from 1990 through 1992. Helen was instrumental in procuring the U.S. Soling Assoc. to hold their Championship Regatta at our club, resulting in the pretirals and trials for that class sailboat to participate in the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. Our club is honored to have been awarded the Olympic Flag through Helen's efforts by the U.S. Olympic Committee. Sincerely, Carol Matthews, Club Manager, for the Members of Platinum Point Yacht club

Please accept my condolences. Your sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was an inspiration to me. My fond memories include her kindness and keen awareness of everything going on around her and greeting everyone when she walked into a room. I'll always remember at age 18, almost 40 years ago, I raced against Mrs. Ingerson at the Rochester Yacht Club in the first women's 420 night race and won! I felt both excitement and guilt. I'll never forget her congratulations, firm hand shake, sincere expression and encouragement. I always addressed her as Mrs. Ingerson. She was an inspiration to me in many ways and will always live on in my heart. Mrs. Ingerson was a woman before her time, may she be at peace. Blessings to everyone who loved and were touched by her.

As a long time member of RYC Helen was always the one to follow and learn from. My saling career did not occur until my 20's,at which time as I was introduced not only to the sport but to the women's opportunities. Helen stood as a role model and shining example for us all to follow. It reminds me today and all days that information is meant to be shared especially with the community of women both near and far.
Good Speed Helen it was a pleasure to have met you.
