Condolences are extended to the family of John Shevlin who served his country well in the USN Armed Guard WW II who were the gun crews on cargo,troop ships, tankers and other craft where needed. He was a faithful supporter of the WW II Veteran Assoc. on the area around Rochester and I am grateful out paths crossed in the life. Smooth sailing John. Uncle John, after daddy passed you filled his shoes in so many ways for me. I will miss our long chats that were filled with reliving memories of my dad and your other siblings. I will miss bringing you dinners and hearing you say in the Irish dialect "God bless ya darlin'". But most of all I'll miss you walking me to my car and sayin' "I luv ya darlin'" and me answering you by sayin' "no, I love you more!". I love you more my sweet Uncle, you will forever be in my heart, always. Thanks for being a great uncle to my Eric. He loves you so much. :)

As a member of the Greatest Generation, John was a Navy Armed Guard gunner aboard merchant ships during WW2. He was justifiably proud of his role in protecting our country. With John's passing the group of AG veterans who met for lunch over the years has dwindled--only a handful remain. We thank you, John, for all you did as our leader. We'll miss your easy smile and great company.
