Mrs. Donovan and family, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Donovan. It was a pleasure to have known him and always enjoyed talking to him. He was alway in a great mood; laughing and smiling, whether at Heimberger's Cottage, at a Buffalo Sabres game against the Bruins, at the B.C. Open in Binghamton when I was back in college or seeing the two of you at the restaurant on the Genesee River to name a few times I enjoyed talking to him. He was always personable, always took the time to ask how things were going. Remember the greats times, God Bless you all and our sincerest condolences, Matt and Tammy Ryndock

I am so saddened to learn of Jacks passing!
Jack and I coached golf together in the RCSD. He was a passionate, happy man and mentor.
I cannot express in words how many great memories I have of Jack. He helped me get my first job in golf and encouraged me to pursue my passion and purpose in life. He was always happy “ high fiving” me and others and calling me “homes”. We played allot of golf and when he retired from SOTA we kept in touch even when he moved to NC and back...I saw him last summer and we reminisced, laughed and hugged. I am so glad I got to see him and show him I loved him. I’ll never forget Jack and all he did for me. Rest In Paradise my friend...

So sorry to hear about Jack. No question one of my favorite people I've ever met. Such great childhood memories: Times at Ontario Golf Club, Junior Golf events, and going to Bills games and hockey games with him - always remember the laugh and calling people "home." He'd be proud to know I actually play beer league hockey these days :) The older I get I realize how fortunate to have people like Jack in my life that were such huge positive influences. I know I can speak on behalf of my mom, dad, brother, and sister that we're thinking about you guys.

To Linda and the Donovan family,
Having known Jack and the family since our days in Kindergarten at St. Mary's, this has come as a shock. I am so grateful that we had time at our reunion to talk and share stories. Jack was always one of the good guys and he will be missed by so many.

Sorry to hear of the passing of such a great gentleman. Mr. Donovan was one of my cooperating teachers when I did my student teaching at Monroe Jr. Sr. High School. Jack was a fabulous teacher, well loved and respected by students and colleagues alike. He was great at connecting with others and folks enjoyed being around Jack. In addition to being a very hard worker, he kept it fun and loved to joke. I bet he joked with Saint Peter as he passed through the Pearly Gates.
My sincere sympathy to Jack's wife and family. May your wonderful memories help you through this difficult time.
Wishing you strength and peace,
Margaret

You were the math teacher I prayed for. When I got you, I showed up and appreciated you as much as teenager who hated math could. I respected and loved your love for me and my classmates. I may have taken you for granted in some me ways, but I loved your dedication and appreciated how much you wanted me to succeed. Math was not something I appreciated until I became an adult. But I certainly appreciated you and immediately thought of you when I realized the values you taught me. When seeing you later in life with my own blossoming child, I prayed she would have a math teacher like you. Your dedication, kindness, and amazing smiles will not e forgotten. Heaven has received another SOTA gem.

"Mr. Donovan" was my math teacher at School of the Arts. I have very fond memories of him- he was such a kind man. I remember his musical "it all adds up" so well (We're all the same inside, even though we try to hide, a decimal, a fraction, or a name, whatever we call ourselves, it adds up the same)....I am so saddened to hear of his passing and I send his family my deepest condolences. May he rest in peace. Jennica

I met Jack at one of the NYSGA women's events when my ball went astray. He had a bead on it and went to where it landed. I met him near it and he smiles at me and says- if you get that ball within ten feet of the pin- I'll give you $5 The ball was nestled in some gnarly grass, twigs, sticks, etc. I looked at him and laughed and said all I have to gain is $5 and a couple of broken wrists. I took a shot at it and stuck it 4 feet from the pin! He just laughed and laughed and kept saying how did you do that? I shrugged my shoulders and walked toward the green. He says, wait...you forgot your $5 and I laughed and told him to just donate it! We still reminisced each year about 'that shot.' Rest easy Jack! You will be missed by many....including me.

I am truly heartbroken over the passing of Mr. Jack Donovan. He was relatable, kind, and humorous which is what made him one of the best teachers. He also spoiled us by letting us to watch the Final Four games during class ❤.
But in all seriousness, you knew you could go to to him if you needed someone. Mr. Donovan cared and he supported his students even in our adulthood. He will be truly missed.
My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I am so incredibly sad to hear of this amazing man's passing. Mr. Donovan wasn't even my math teacher, but his door was always open to give help where needed. Even years after graduation we maintained contact. His grandchildren attended the same school as my own son and I loved running into him at school events. He always beamed with pride over his grandkids and introduced me with pride to whomever he was with as one of his former students. Mr. Donovan - rest in eternal peace. May your family find the strength to make it through this difficult time.
