Paul Haney was a man that deeply cared about his family, his faith, and his community. He served not only those who elected him to positions of responsibility, but he served the community as a whole.
We had the good fortune to live across the street from Paul, his parents and uncle, on Tacoma Street. We witnessed first hand how Paul interacted with others when there were no reporters, no committees, and no one to comment on what he did or didn't do. Paul was ever the same man. He was without guile, quick to help, strong in compassion. The 10th Ward produced no finer son.
He will be missed, but if we keep the Spirit of Paul in our hearts, we will be a better community for it.
