Susan, Proverbs 22:1 says: A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. Reading some of the comments of condolence, it is obvious that your Father was respected and loved by many. His friendship with those from early childhood through adulthood speaks of a man who loved well and cared deeply. What a legacy! The same could be said of you, Susan. You are continuing the family trait of loyalty and kindness. Please know that we are here to support you in any way during this time of sorrow and loss. You are not alone. Remembering Bill Holly, a dear and life-long friend of my father's and of my family's. Bill was one of a group of guys --they called themselves "Benny's Bums"-- who grew up together and remained constant friends, from the time they were in kindergarten at School #42 School in Charlotte, throughout the entirety of their lives. Bill, Dad (Lloyd "Buddy" Bach), Jim Shepler, Bob Lott, Ed Teirlynck, and Larry Dettman were truly, devoted friends for life. I will always remember Bill's humor, his teasing, his love of fishing, and his generosity. He was a remarkable man. I send my heartfelt condolences to the Holly family. It was 61 years ago when CB and Jack Kinsella met Audrey and Bill Holly in a hospital room. We women were sharing after giving birth to baby girls. We have been good friends ever since, thru "thick and thin." I'm pretty sure that Jack and Bill are "up there" laughing amongst themselves over some of our mutual memories.

Bill was a great friend. He met with my son, who at the time was in 7th grade, to set up an investment account. He also referred to Dottie, who died less than to weeks earlier than Bill, as "God." He always wanted her to officiate at his funeral. While that will not happen, I am sure that they will laugh in together in the next life about earthly plans.
