Frank T. Giangiobbe LCDR Irondequoit: March 1, 2020 at the age of 91. Pre-deceased by wife of 58 years, Janice, and his son, Peter. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Ann & Douglas Cole and beloved grandchildren, Olivia & Spencer. City Champ in Track & Field his senior year at Madison, he utilized the ROTC to attend the University of Rochester and entered the U.S. Navy. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander serving three years active duty on the USS Peterson and the USS Des Moines and then entered the reserves for 21 years of service. Frank started teaching sixth grade in the Byron-Bergen Community School District in 1953 and later taught in The Rochester City School District where, in 1965, he became Principal of elementary schools #24, and afterwards, #38, and #37. He retired in 1983. An avid reader and lifelong woodcarver, first on ship models, he later used his skill in carving and painting birds for competitive exhibitions. He taught his craft at the RMSC sharing his incredible talent and knowledge. He enjoyed his connections with the Genesee Valley Woodcarvers and his comrades from the naval reserves. Friends are invited to meet the family Friday, March 13, 2:45 pm at the Irondequoit Cemetery, for full military honors and inurnment. Afterwards, 3:30 pm, there will be a memorial service at The Lutheran Church of the Transfiguration, 3760 Culver Rd and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to AutismUp, 50 Science Pkwy, 14620.
