Irondequoit: Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the age of 93. Predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Helen (Leary). He is survived by his children, Beth (Dr. John) Fung, William (Sandra Doorley) Loftus Jr., and James (Celine) Loftus; grandchildren, Justin, Lauren, Brendan, and Shannon Fung; Erin and Meghan Loftus; Rachel, Garrett, and Ryan Derosia. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father Henry, mother Bernice (Loney), sisters and brothers-in-law Jane (Richard) Maxwell, Ruth (William) Pfau, and niece Suzanne Maxwell Smith. Also predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws Daniel (Eileen) Leary, Ray (Margaret) Owen, Edward (Mary) Rockefeller, and niece Denise Leary. Bill was born in Ontario, NY and attended Wayne Central Schools until the family relocated to Rochester where he was a member of the East High School Class of 1944. He was a proud graduate of Villanova University class of 1949 in mechanical engineering. While at Villanova, he spent 13 months completing his service in the U.S. Signal Corps, returning in 1947 on the GI Bill. As a fresh graduate, Bill worked at General Railway Signal for 15 years. He joined Champion Products in 1964 and for 28 years performed key roles as a Vice President in manufacturing, operations and product development. A loving and caring husband, father, grandpa and uncle, Bill was also the past Villanova University Rochester Chapter President, an officer on the Board of Directors for the Screen Printing Association International, a volunteer at Christ the King Parish where he and Helen were founding members, Bishop Kearney High School and a 60 yr member of the Irondequoit Republican Committee. He loved his family, golf, jazz, dancing and Villanova basketball. Bill's family would like to thank the staff at the St. Ann's Community at Cherry Ridge for their wonderful care and support following Bill and Helen's move from the house they called home for 63 years. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 5th at 9:30am at St. Kateri at Christ the King Church. Interment White Haven Memorial Park.
