Papa was a great guy. He taught me one of the best lessons in life, and I still live by it today. I was Papa's pharmacist, and I visited him at least 3 times a day every summer. He predicted my future of who I was marrying and how many kids we were having. I loved going over to his cottage and play with Tipper, and help him out. Labor Day Weekened 2009 was the best whenever only I was up there, and all day long I hung out with Papa. Papa and I would joke around about how we're together and that were going to go on a trip to Figi together, but he has to get his passport. He was one of my heroes. I will always love him, and Ill miss him terribly. I love you Papa.

Our deepest sympathies go out to all the Vays. Joe will surely be missed. My fondest Kodak memories were at the Barn with the Vays after softball! RIP Joe.

I am thinking of all the Vays and sharing in your feeling of loss over the passing of Joe, the "Mayor of Headland Avenue". Joe was one of the most kind-hearted, generous souls I can remember knowing. He had a heart of gold and a vast repertoire of expertise in so many topics. Spending a morning on the docks with Joe was always a special pleasure, and one that I will sorely miss. On behalf of the TIP Yacht Club, we all want to remember and thank Joe for his years of selfless service to our group and to the promotion of safe boating education on the River. I already miss you, Joe!

I have many fond memories of 'Big' Joe. Vardy Lake, Kodak Softball, SuperBowl Parties, gathering firewood....... I wish all of the Vay family warmest wishes at a time of great grief. Hopefully much of that grief will be tempered by the many memories of Joe and that he made everyone he met smile (or laugh) Love, Dan & Sally
