Jason and I came to know one another somewhere around kindergarten at Briarwood elementary school and have managed to remain in contact from then through our 40 plus year lives. The memories I have are shared with the family be they countless meals(dinners especially) at the home or the various sporting events, celebrations, losses, wins, and just good old laughs. The main value I have appreciated is this bunch was ... and still IS family. They are so intimate a family that in sharing of names they all start with J and end with B. I am thankful to have met this family and shared so many countless and amazing moments with them and am sure they will continue to grow and support eachother. I am deeply sore for their loss and know that as they carry on they will honor their husband, father and grandfather, in all the things they do.
It is from my experience that with great loss comes great togetherness. With so many memories, I will recall those great times when thinking of John Bentley. Peace and Blessings to the Family.
All the best,
James D. Harrison
Affectionately known as (Juggy)

What a wonderful guy. A few years ago John did some painting for my mother and shared a story with me. In 8th grade Sister Judith asked him to stay after school. She asked him if he had considered entering the priesthood. John said he began laughing uncontrollably as did Sister Judith who was just doing her job. I can just picture him with tears rolling down his cheeks. The video shows what a happy life he had with Judy and his children. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

There are no words to express the sadness I feel for Judy and family. John was a very dear and special friend and I can’t imagine life without him in it. I watched him suffer for the last 7 1/2 months and he never complained once. We kept praying he would get better but God had another plan. Until we meet again. With love, Debbie Place

My dear cousin, Debbie Place, kept me informed of John's recovery after his surgery so I could pray for him. As I live in Rhode Island, I did not know John, but throughout this past year, Debbie painted a picture of what a fine human being John was and how far and wide he was loved and appreciated and how very determined he was to get on with his life again after the surgery. I wish to say to his family that I truly believe that God spared John further suffering and called him home. John didn't leave you. When you're having a difficult moment, always remember him smiling. I grieve with you because I just lost my best friend of 61 years the same way, same type surgery, same difficult recovery, and she passed away two days earlier last week. Sending prayers and hugs, from Janice Baker, Cumberland, Rhode Island

John Bentley - We make many friends in life but very few special friends. John was one of those people. Always happy to see you, smiling with a great sense of humor. Always willing to help no matter what the task was. Compassionate, a good listener, generous and humble. He was a great teammate to play basketball or golf with but also a joy to compete against. He understood the value of winning but was more importantly a gracious loser. He had a great spirit!
John loved his friends and we loved him. He is and will be greatly missed.

Dear Judy,
While I only met John a few times over the years, his name was a constant in our home. My husband, Al, spoke of "Bentley" (never "John") quite often. He had much fun with and respect for John. I am so sorry for your loss. Al passed last month; I know the broken heart and pain you will experience after spending most of your life with one man. It is gut-wrenching. If you are on FB, friend me and I will invite you into my Cancer Sucks (named by my children) which I started by posting what was emotionally happening with me; I've been told it has been helpful for others. It's a safe place to voice your own thoughts and vulnerabilities. I wish you peace and know that John's angel wings are surrounding you in comfort and love.
