We send our condolences to all of Irene's family and friends. Such a great loss of a wonderful spirited woman. Our family came to know our neighbor over the years and we considered her as a friend and mentor (especially with gardening & dealing with aging and difficult illness). She watched our extended family grow and rejoiced with news and pictures of a new baby. She filled us in on the history of the neighborhood and up-coming events. She supported us during our folks senior years and deaths.
And as the years went by we saw her strength even in the midst of a ravaging Parkinson's disease. Even on a bad day she still left us with a smile, a laugh or gratitude for a visit. We couldn't but love her and Janet as we saw EMT's and fire dept. medics help her up after a fall, and trips for hospitals stays, and in home nurses & OT's or PT's doing home visits.
We saw her faith demonstrated by example and sometimes in words. God tells us to love our neighbors as ourselves and we certainly felt that from Irene and hopefully she felt our love too.
We will miss our neighbor and so much more so all of you her family & friends. But know Irene will be in our prayers & memories for a long time, especially as we work in the garden.
