Obituary of Sandra J. Nelson

IRONDEQUOIT – passed away on Sunday June 19, 2022. Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Richard Nelson; daughters, Holly (Robert Jones) Cierzo and Julie Nelson; sons, Richard Nelson, and Kenneth Nelson; granddaughter, Sophia Cierzo; sister, Julie (Robert) Opett; nephews, Robert (Teresa) Opett, William (Marguerite) Opett and their families; and son-in-law, Thomas Cierzo. Sandy was predeceased by her parents, Owen and Margaret (Sigl) Rappleye, brothers William and Paul Rappleye.

Sandy married the love of her life, Richard on January 17, 1981, in Old Forge, NY. Sandy worked for the West Irondequoit Central School District for over 20 years. Sandy loved her dogs, the birds that would visit her yard, the flowers in her gardens, keeping the candy dish full, a comfortable sweatshirt, and a hot cup of coffee. She cherished the time spent with her family and especially her dear granddaughter, Sophia whom she called “the light of my life.”
