Pogoda, John D. of West Irondequoit passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 at the age of 81.  John was predeceased by his wife Christine (Schmitz) Pogoda in 2015, his cousin Dennis Pogoda and his parents, Joseph and Mae (Werner) Pogoda.  Mr. Pogoda is survived by his children, Stacey (Carlos Bonfante) Pogoda and David (Michele) Pogoda. Brother, Paul (Paula) Pogoda.  Grandchildren, Cai (Bonfante), Chloe, Joseph, Max, Sophie, and Cecelia (Pogoda).  First wife, Terry Pogoda. Cousins Lauren Puccia, Kathi Pogoda. Caregiver and friend, Linda Bookstein. Several step children, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was born in Rochester, NY.  After graduating from West Irondequoit high school, John attended Hobart and RIT Colleges.  He married the love of his life, Christine, on July 14, 2002.  John retired in 2007 from PPG Industries where he worked as a salesman for numerous years.  John was the quintessential sports enthusiast. He was president of the Irondequoit Vikings, a youth and high school coach, and attendee of countless games. He enjoyed music, especially Bob Dylan, coffee at the Cooper Del, the theatre, and taking in the races at Saratoga. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, friends, and grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 4 to 7PM at the Harris Funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to meet the family at the Irondequoit United Church of Christ (644 Titus Ave.) on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 10AM for his funeral service.
