As the song goes 'thanks for the memories...'
Margi was a class act who will not be forgotten. She kept us in stitches both figuratively with her Irish wit and humor, and literally with her craft. Margi cross stitched two beautiful ring bearer pillows our nephews held on our wedding day. She had made them by hand, from scratch, while bravely and courageously confronting the first of many health battles.
Margi was the kind of person you wanted to hang around with. She was fun and funny and she was always up for an adventure.
I am so thankful for all of her encouragement, thoughtfulness, prayers and for also being my confirmation sponsor, in a previous century.
Margi was a very bright person who made time for others, who appreciated culture and the arts. Especially any art that featured sunflowers or pansies. She herself was no shrinking violet.
I'll share one anecdote. John Robert and Margi had driven to town for a debate tournament and they met my husband and me for dinner. We had just finished when the waitress came over and handed the check to my husband. Margi literally tried to wrestle it out of his hands. "You're not paying for this. Don't you dare!" We were all laughing. It was hysterical.
As we drove away, my husband said to me, "I don't think someone has ever tried to fight me for a check before. I wasn't going to let her pay though. But boy is she strong!"
Stay strong Margi.
It won't be the same without you.
