Obituary of Donald J. Piccolo

Penfield: Thursday, September 23, 2010 after a long courageous battle with cancer he left this world with a song in his heart. Predeceased by his parents, Angelo & Lydia. Don is survived by his loving and devoted partner of 36 years, Carol Testa; daughter, Denise (Angelo) Piperni; grandsons, Angelo & Giancarlo; several relatives and friends including best friends, Dan Labbate and Bill Spioti "like brothers" and Anthony Amoroso, friend and inspired student. Don was a talented local musician & instrumental music teacher. He had his own band with vocalist Carol Testa for 17 years. Don played solo clarinet with the 3rd Army Head Quarters Band in L.A. California for 2 years. He also played lead Alto with the Greater Rochester Jazz Orchestra and the Joe Cady Band, 30 years with the Monroe County Concert Parks Band and Tenor Sax with the Jack Allen Band. Don taught instrumental music in Monroe County Catholic Schools for 31 years. He also performed with many other groups in the Rochester area & around the country. Music was his life! Family and friends may call FRIDAY 4-7 pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South) and attend a celebration of Don's life SATURDAY 11:00 AM at ST. JEROME'S CHURCH (East Rochester).
