Obituary of Steven C. Kralles
On June 9, 2024, the world lost a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend in Steven C. Kralles, 63, of Irondequoit, New York following a brief battle with cancer.
Steve was born in Rochester to the late Nicholas and Marian Kralles, the second of four sons. He grew up in Irondequoit and attended West Irondequoit Schools where he was active in sports (especially track and swimming), enjoyed academics, developed a fondness for fishing, and cultivated many lifelong friendships. He went on to graduate from the University of Buffalo with a degree in engineering.
Following in his father’s footsteps he joined Eastman Kodak where he worked for over 30 years. It was here that he met his life partner and wife Diane Zaccarine. Together they had two sons, Samuel and Edward, and settled in Irondequoit. Steve retired in early 2023 from Beckman Coulter, capping off a long and successful career.
Steve was a serial enthusiast, immersing himself in a variety of interests with tenacity and joy including golf, carpentry, motorcycling, fitness and travel. Later in life he rediscovered an early passion for music and became an accomplished guitarist, most recently as lead guitarist for the Grateful Dead cover band Delilah Jones. Above all else he was devoted to his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Diane Zaccarine; sons, Sam Kralles and Ed (Avery) Kralles; pet dog, Bella; brothers, John (Pannaphat) Kralles, Chris Kralles, and Alex (Christine) Kralles; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Lynn Zicari, Debbie Zaccarine (Jim Davidson), David Zaccarine, Cathy Zaccarine (Bob Yates), Paul Zaccarine (Frances Norton), Alan (Christina) Zaccarine, along with many adored nieces and nephews.
Steve will be greatly missed for his kindness and overall tranquility. He leaves his family and friends with rich and beautiful memories (and many, many nicknames).
Services for Steve will be private with family. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in his name.
