Ruth & Family, I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a wonderful person and I will always remember our bridge days at Ridgemont. The photo tribute was very touching and I can see how caring and loving of a man he was. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. I'm hoping Bob is playing a great round of golf with Mr & Mrs H!
Sincerely,
Jodie & Greg Stahl

I met Bob and Ruth, along with Dick and Mary Clar, many years ago at the Irondequoit Citizens Police Academy. The five of us sat in the back and had a great time learning about the police force and sharing our own private jokes. I will never forget the twinkle in Bob's eyes and his quick laugh. He will be dearly missed.

I'm so glad I had the chance in August 2008 to see Bob again when I was in Rochester visiting my family. We had a really enjoyable dinner - about 10 of us - the Johnsons and me. I remember Bob from my high school days in Irondequoit when I was good friends with Randy, and Bob and Ruth generously took us out to steak dinners at Ridgemont Country Club. I felt so lucky to be included - and Bob was always so jovial and kind.

"Semper Fi My Friend", you have done your duty, stand easy.
Dear Ruth I am glad I got to talk to Bob several weeks ago. He was in the hospital then and I told him he was my hero and not to let me down. It was my pleasure to call him "My Friend and Brother".Although I never met him only through the phone and emails there was a connection right away through the Corps. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers! "Semper Fi" Dale

We have been working with children together for twenty years. Over the years our conversations changed from talking about students to talking about our own families and a great friendship was born. I was always impressed with how much you loved Ruth and always mentioned her within the first minute every time we were together. How proud you were of margaret and all her accomplishments. The children and i miss you as a volunteer at school but I miss you more as a friend more.

My Dad, Dano E.Gibson, was a member of the 443 Marine Bomber Squadron during WW2 and along with my Mom Dorothy and my sister Patty, we were known as the Gibson Girls during the units reunions since 1986. My Dad never go to attend but we went in his place and we met some of the nicest people along the way. Bob was one of them. The Marines always took good care of their family near and far and that is what I admired the most. It was also great to meet the men my Dad talked about by putting faces to the stories. The 443 is losing more of their members each year but the third and fourth generations will always remember the fun we had at those reunions. Thanks so much for including us in them.

My mom, Inez, and I want to express our sympathy to the family. My folks and Ruth and Bob spent many times together, including golfing and vacationing. Personally I remember Bob always giving me a hug and calling me Chrissy when they visited our house. My folks hated that nickname and Bob was the only one who could get away with it.

We met Bob and Ruth at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station. I knew right off he was one of the good guys because here he was, a Captain, and he actually spoke to me, a Second Lieutenant. He was involved in almost all of my flying adventures back there. Together we tried to disprove several of the absolute rules of flying. I’m sure only divine intervention let us survive some of those experiments.
We flew again together in Korea and actually did some real photo work with the Banshees. Bob came home a few months ahead of me. We saw Bob and Ruth again in 1957 when they came out to Palm Springs. Almost 50 years would pass before the internet brought us together again.
The computers let us share our thoughts on a wide range of current topics as well as our memories of our times together so long ago.
I think we all aspire to be lifetime Marines and anyone that knew Bob knew he achieved that goal.
I’m so glad to have had him as a friend and I’ll always cherish that last phone call we had in the Hospital.
Dear Ruth and Family, I’m so sorry for your loss
