We have known and loved Leon for many years. We pitched horse shoes together. He was an excellent player and won first place many times with grace and compliments to his opponents. He had so many interests that he was a joy to be with. He loved the Mets and rooted for them. He took rides in the Fall to see the color of the leaves and he would share his enthusiasm for these things with his friends. He loved his family and often spoke of them to us.
He was truly a gentleman and loved life. We will miss him but our memories will always
bring a smile to us. Just knowing him has added joy to our lives.

My contact with Leon was through my mom,Alva Bengle. They were great friends and companions for so many years. I know that he brought her much joy through the things they shared. He was so disappointed when she could no longer go with him to Charlotte to watch the boats and the people. Our family is grateful to Leon for everything he did for Mom. He was a sweet and classy man.

I knew Leon thru my mother Alva Bengle. The two of them lived across the sidewalk from each other and he would always check to make sure everything was alright. He was a very kind man. They would go to Denny's almost every Sunday for lunch together.

I met Leon about a year ago playing horseshoes and was always amazed how well he did at age 95.I just remarked to someone that he was like the energizer bunny and he always seemed to be able to come up with a double ringer to finish the game.God bless your family.

Leon was an active member of the Irondequoit Senior Center and the Men's Golf League. He loved to play horseshoes at Town Hall, Bocce,Euchre and lunch at the center.
He will be greatly missed at the center by many of his peers. I too will miss Leon, his internet jokes and the frienship we shared for twenty six years.
My prayers are with the family.
